Georgia's Traffic Polling and Analysis System (TPAS)

Georgia's TPAS provides 24-hour traffic data collected 24/7, 365 days a year from permanent traffic collection devices (ATRs) throughout the state for Georgia's State Highway System.  The traffic data is updated on this website daily.

Georgia's TPAS is intended for the general public to: 

  • View current traffic information.
  • View historical traffic information dating back to January 1, 2008.

Directions For Using Georgia's TPAS

  1. Select (click) the "Start Georgia's Traffic Polling and Analysis System (TPAS)" hyperlink above.
  2. Select (click) the "View Map" button.
  3. To zoom in on the state map, select or click on a county or city in the drop-down fields or on the map.
  4. To view traffic data collected at a specific Automatic Traffic Recorder (ATR), click the blue dot that corresponds to the location of the ATR. 

Traffic Count Data

Historically, the Office of Transportation Data (OTD) at the Georgia DOT has collected traffic count data from portable and permanent traffic collection devices that are installed at data collection sites.  The primary purpose of collecting this data is to support an annual Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) report that is required by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The traffic counts that are collected from the permanent and portable traffic collection devices are used in the calculation of the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) estimates.

  • The permanent ATRs are installed under the surface of the roadway.  These sites count traffic 24/7, 365 days a year.
  • The portable traffic collection devices are set up on top of the roadway.  These sites count traffic for a 48-hour period.  Every effort is made to collect the traffic counts during typical travel conditions and not on holidays or weekends.
