The MUTCD Part 6 “Temporary Traffic Control” is discussed in detail. The course will give participants the fundamental knowledge to set up temporary traffic control devices and to understand why worker safety is crucial for everyone.
Sign Retroreflectivity Guidelines
FHWA establishes new minimum levels for traffic sign retroreflectivity that must be maintained by all agencies and organizations with roadways open to the public. This course will also provide some aids and tools that the local governments can use to assist them in the inspection of their signs to ensure that those signs are maintained in compliance with the new regulations.
What’s New 2009 MUTCD
The traffic control devices (TCD) are very critical for the safe and efficient transportation of people and goods. The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) contains national standards governing all traffic control devices by setting minimum standards and providing guidance. All public agencies and owners of private roads open to public travel rely on the MUTCD to bring uniformity. The use of uniform TCDs helps reduce crashes and congestion, and improves the efficiency of the transportation system. This course is designed to highlight some of the revisions contained in the MUTCD 2009 edition. This course is developed for all city/county personnel dealing with any aspect of traffic control.
