Field Plan Review

Georgia811 Logo

The Georgia Utilities Protection Center, Inc., has a new "Georgia811 - Call Before You Dig" logo. A .cel file of this new logo for use on GDOT plans can be found on the GDOT FTP site.

  1.  Access the GDOT FTP site
  2. From the "Page" pull down menu in the upper right corner choose "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer"
    • Username is "dotpublic"
    • Password is "dotoutside02
  3. Open the folder "/UtilityDgns/811Logo"
  4. Copy and paste the "GDOT-GN-General-Notes-Georgia811.cel" file into the "C:\GDOT\GDOTRoad\Cells" folder on your computer's hard drive.

The "GDOT-GN-General-Notes-Georgia811.cel" file is a Microstation J cell library. The logo is to be placed into your drawings as a cell:

  5. Open the appropriate Microstation J sheet file (typically the General Notes sheet)
  6. From the top drop down menu choose "Element", then "Cells
    • A "Cell Library" dialog box will appear
    • From the "File" menu, choose "GDOT-GN-General-Notes-Georgia811.cel"
    • Once the cell library fill appears in the window of the Cell Library dialog box, click on it to activate it then choose "Placement"
    • Close the Cell Library dialog box
  7. From the Microstation J "Main" tool box, choose "Place Active Cell"
    • When the "Place Active Cell" dialog box appears, ensure the fields for the active angle and the X/Y scales are populated as needed
    • Place the Georgia811 logo on the sheet
      • Left click to set in place
      • Right click to reset

An update to the standards for the Electronic Data Guidelines and associated CADD Standards for existing Microstation J projects will be made available later this summer.
